Conclusions

Ptolemy's Almagest is to physics what Euclid's Elements is to mathematics, and deserves a significantly higher scientific reputation than it currently possesses. In this study, we have demonstrated that the model of the solar system proposed in the Almagest is far simpler, far more accurate, and far more conformal to modern physics, than is generally supposed. It is hoped that this demonstration will help to restore the Almagest to its rightful place amongst the major seminal works of exact science.
